Mass Hypnosis was a Seattle band back during the birth of the grunge scene. Grunge we weren't. It started in 1985 with Ava Chakravarti and myself deciding we wanted to practice writing pop tunes. Well, this ain't exactly pop, but it was a close as we got. We did have a blast. The first version we called "The GoGo Funknix." We wrote "My Heart during that time. We decided we had enough tunes to try and put together a band. We drafted two guys: My high school partner, Eric Wilcox on drums and Vocals and Todd Fogelsonger on guitar and vocals. To be honest, I have no idea where our first gig was but we played a lot and a quite a few of those were at the Backstage in Ballard, almost our home court. Looking through a Facebook dedicated to The Backstage and seeing a lot of ads, several of them had Mass Hypnosis on the playbill. I thought, what the hell, let's tighten those songs up a bit up and put them on the interwebs. Our only recording was released in 1988. We recorded at Rick Vaughan's studio, Audio Design and mastered at Future Disc in Hollywood.
Somewhere, deep in the bottom of a box, there might exist the 1/2" masters or the dat tape. Which box? Instead, I dusted off the turntable and dumped it into Protools and started pushing buttons. So, enjoy a trip in the wayback machine. Have fun and listen loud!
